An Art Happens Project!
from "Lovely Linda" Crofton

Step-by-step instructions show you how to create a
Clasp Envelope Travel Journal like the one pictured below. Enjoy!

Materials Needed*

  • 6” x 9” brown clasp envelope

  • Lumiere paints

  • Foam brush or cosmetic sponge wedges

  • 20” length of ribbon – ½” wide

  • 6 sheets of paper measuring 5” x 8”

  • a library pocket

  • black StazOn ink pad

Instructions

Begin by painting the envelope (front and back) and the library pocket (front only) with Lumiere paints. Allow to air dry completely. Rubber stamp both pieces with images of your choice (art, travel, etc.). Fold in half to form the covers of your journal, placing the clasp opening as the inside back cover. Adhere the library pocket to the inside front cover.

Fold 5” x 8”sheets of paper in half to form the pages of your journal. Run ribbon along the creases of the envelope and the pages, and tie at the outside top. This will hold your pages inside your journal.

Now when you travel you can journal each day, noting your activities for the trip, adding artwork, brochures, etc. Use the back of the envelope as a pocket by opening the clasp to tuck receipts inside. Save ticket stubs in the library pocket.
